About Us
Hunter’s been around since 1856, rooted in British grit and a restless drive to build things that actually work. What started with American inventor Henry Lee Norris setting up shop in Scotland has grown into a legacy of boots built to take on whatever the weather throws at you. Back then, it was all about using a patented vulcanization process to make tough, waterproof rubber goods. Today, that same mindset still guides everything we do.
For over 160 years, we’ve made products with a purpose. During both World Wars, we ran round-the-clock production to supply millions of pairs of boots to soldiers who needed gear they could count on. That commitment to protection isn’t just history—it’s baked into how we work.
Take our Original Rain Boot. Each pair is hand-assembled from 28 individual components over the course of three days. Every piece is cut by hand from a 3D pattern and shaped over an aluminum last designed specifically for Hunter—a method that hasn’t changed much since the beginning. It’s slow, careful work, but that’s the point. When you pull on a pair of Hunters, you’re stepping into more than a century and a half of craftsmanship.
